LULI LOU
This is a creative space I've dedicated to share my love for all things ink and paper.

The Luli Lou blog is named after my late maternal grandparents, Luli and Lourdes.

I'm Joey, the girl behind it.

I post on Tuesdays and occasionally on Fridays since 10/01/2021 ♥︎

A Review of My Lenwa 365 Journal (+ A Special Project!)

Philippines

I am excited to finally use this one after having it sleep in my little stationery box for more than a year now.

I originally bought this last year in the hopes of planning my entire year 26 in this lifetime, but that didn't happen because my birthday fell on a bad day for the family. Then I decided perhaps I'd document 2022 instead, but then I got busy setting up my bullet journal and January layout. And so here we are.

Let's begin. ♥︎

THE LAYOUT

This 365 Journal is by Lenwa Stationery, a Chinese manufacturer based in Whenzou City. LENWA was established in 1991 (older than me!) and has grown to be one of the leading manufacturers and exporters of OEM notebooks and branded journals in East Asia.

One of their most popular products is the 365 Journal, which features the following:

  • fabric hard cover
  • 192 pages of 70 GSM
  • 365 blank pages with day labels
  • 19 extra lined pages for notes
  • ribbon bookmark
  • comes in black, blue, red, and gray

QUICK NOTES
Price: PHP 145
Where to buy: Shopee | Lazada

SAMPLE PAGES

Okay, so I couldn't show you a sample page for this journal because I will be using it on a very special project. ✌🏼Know more about it at the end of this entry. But here are actual pages from the journal.

THE PEN-TO-PAPER TEST

Here we are once again. You probably know the drill, so I'll just go ahead with the list of pens and markers used in this test:

  • Tombow ABT brush pen in 757 (port red)
  • Crayola SuperTips washable marker in olive
  • Morris JustClick marker in black
  • DS retractable highlighter in
  • Sakura Pigma Micron 03
  • Uni Pin Fineline 04
  • Zebra Mildliner in Copper
  • Pilot G-Tec C3
  • Pilot Acroball 03
  • Uni Shalaku S mechanical pencil 05

Findings:

  1. It's obvious that the paper is very susceptible to bleeding. Let's get real⏤for something this affordable, that's pretty much expected, so careful on thicker, heavier inks.
  2. There's ghosting, sure, but I honestly don't mind. =) I actually appreciate it that it can hold at least one layer of Tombows and SuperTips, so that means we can color this beauty.
  3. Gel pens and ballpoint pens work well with this one, so that's really cool. I was expecting even the gel pens would bleed so badly; thank God it didn't.

THE YELLOW LEGAL PAD TEST

pros

  1. Honestly, it's very affordable. It's cheaper than a grande iced americano from Starbucks, and this one would last you for a whole year, and sometimes even more, depending on how you plan to use it.
  2. It looks regal. I'm not gonna lie, it does remind me of the yearbooks we have from school, though a lot smaller. But I like it. :)
  3. I don't know about you, but I really appreciate the font used in this book. For something as affordable as this, I'm usually wary about how they look overall, but this one's really neat.
  4. It has extra pages for notes and brain dumping.

cons

  1. The colors are limited. Although to be fair, the colors are classic and beautiful, but then again, you only have four options.
  2. It doesn't have an elastic enclosure. It's marketed as a junk journal, so it would've been nice if there's a garter of some sort to keep everything securely intact inside.
  3. It's not easily accessible. Sure you can get one from Shopee or Lazada, but as far as I've noticed, only very few shops carry these item on their inventories.

RECOMMENDATION

Overall, I think that this is a great buy. Though the numbering system can make or break your journaling experience, ha! It's good because it keeps you motivated because each page is marked, but then if you miss a day, it might be demotivating to hop on back and journal again.

But to be fair, it really is a purchase I don't regret, and if I could afford it, I would gladly buy one for each of my loved ones. That's how much I could recommend this one.

THE LULI LOU 365 PROJECT

Thank you so much for getting up to this part because I have a special announcement to make. As this suggests, I am kicking off my daily journaling project using this very journal.

Every day from October 1 (the blog's anniversary), I will be junk journaling every single day, guided by a list of journal prompts that I prepared beforehand. I will be sharing those on my social media accounts if you want to follow along. (Follow me on Instagram or Facebook) 😊

It will mean a lot to me if you could join me in this project, but if you're not feeling it, that's okay too⏤no pressure. Please tag me if you do at @luliloublog and please use the hashtag #lulilou365project. ♥︎
