The Zebra Mildliners is a very popular line for school, work, or general merriment. For quite a while, they only maintained three sets (refresh-bright, friendly, fluorescent, cool and refined, and warm); and this year, they released two new sets: the neutral and the gentle sets. Today, we'll dig in on the neutrals.
THE LAYOUT
The Zebra Mildliner highlighters are popular key stationery items manufactured by Japanese brand Zebra Pen Corporation. The highlighters feature dual-end tips (bullet tip for encircling, underlining, etc. and chisel tip for the highlighting) with some the prettiest, if I may say, highlighter shade to boot.
The Mildliners are dressed in white plastic snap-on capped barrels. They're water-based, water-resistant highlighters that are AP certified nontoxic. These are said to be ideal for all note-taking, studying, and all other creative applications.
There used to be only twenty-five shades, with five sets to choose from. In 2022, they added two more sets, and one of them is the one we're reviewing now: the Neutral set. Here are the shades included:
copper, cool gray, cream, olive, green

PEN-TO-PAPER TEST
- Sure there's still slightly visible ghosting, but it's a level of ghosting that's easy to overlook.
- I love how the colors really "pop" against the white page. It shows the actual softness of the pastel hues in all its glory.
- There's definitely ghosting⏤especially on the places where you kinda push the highlighter a little⏤ but it's not too much to be distracting.
- The colors are subtle, so it highlights without necessarily distracting your attention every time.
YELLOW LEGAL PAD TEST
pros
- These are the prettiest set of highlighters I've ever laid my eyes on. They're soft and pretty; I simply love them all! Don't worry, I might have some of them on the shop. ;)
- There's no ghosting or bleeding at all. When I was swatching the highlighters, there was a pool of inks, like the ones at the end or beginning or a highlight, but pleasantly surprised I truly was when I saw nothing on the back page.
cons
- Again, it's difficult to score (as of writing). I'm talking in the perspective of someone living in the Philippines, so we might not share the same experience depending on where you are in the world. ☺️
- I'm not sure if mild cream is usable because it's honestly too light. I've tried it on both paper and extra white pages; I'm not a fan. I'm listing this as a con since I bought this as a set, and I think that I got robbed off one highlighter.

RECOMMENDATION
I've been really enjoying my time with the Mildliners Neutral! I'm a fan of how they don't just highlight, but they also double as coloring markers for my journals⏤convenient and economical. I also like how they're really pretty in both performance and packaging.
I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Just be wary that they might be difficult to scout, but once you got a hold of them, they're very worth it. ♡
