A quick search with keyword "highlighter" on your favorite online shopping app, and you'll find this highlighter all over the results page. They're easy to spot because they always come in sets but are paired with a rather affordable price point.
Prices are too good actually that it leads one to ask, Are they too good to be true? And the product ratings are high too, so you get intrigued if these are honest-to-goodness review. Well, you're here now and Luli Lou's all about honest feedback, so let's see, shall we.

THE LAYOUT
Vience Retro Highlighters are products by Wenzhou Feida Pen Industry Co. Ltd. based in Wenzhou, China. Feida Pen lives on to researching, developing, manufacturing, and marketing different kinds of ink items⏤ball point pens, gel pens, watercolor pens, highlighters, etc.
These specific line comes in two different sets: Retro and Morandi. Retro being brighter compared to Morandi, which is featured here. Here are the colors in the Morandi set:
- muted green
- muted brown
- muted blue
- muted red orange
- muted pink
- muted sky blue
Each marker is outfitted in a glossy white plastic barrel with a colored cap that matches the ink's color. I think it's clever how the label has some highlighting action, since this is a highlighter after all.

PEN-TO-PAPER TEST
I tested this on a 80 GSM paper, the thinnest and lightest one I have, under the premise that if it works well with this one, it will work well too with higher GSM papers.
- The strokes are solid and consistent (the brown swatch is on me because I was laughing when I did the swatch so it ended that way, and I didn't want to spend another page so there's that 😅). But I can assure you, the there's no breaking of strokes or dancing of highlighter tips when dragging it across the paper.
- It goes on smoothly, making it easy to highlight whatever you want to highlight.
- I did notice that starting and end points tend to ghost⏤almost bleed. This might be an issue to some of us since we usually do a hard start and a hard stop when highlighting as opposed to just letting the pen swing across.
YELLOW LEGAL PAD TEST
pros
- I like how these slide on smooth as butter. (Again, the brown swatch is on me.) It's not too liquidy that there's a slight tug on the paper due to wetness.
- The colors are wonderful. They're not too light yet not too dark, just enough to make a phrase or line stand out without necessarily making it stick out look like a sore thumb.
- These are a bang for your buck. For a price of less than PHP 16 per highlighter, these ones definitely good ones to get, especially if you're on a budget.
cons
- If you're using a lower GSM than 80, you might be encountering more ghosting/bleeding than the one shown in the Pen-to-Paper Test.
- They're only available online. (PS I always try to give a fair point for products that are easily accessible via malls or small-scale shops to cater to those who want one immediately or those who find shipping fees expensive.)
