LULI LOU
This is a creative space I've dedicated to share my love for all things ink and paper.

The Luli Lou blog is named after my late maternal grandparents, Luli and Lourdes.

I'm Joey, the girl behind it.

May Bullet Journal Setup | 2022 Bujo

Philippines

Hello and welcome to a brand-new bujo⏤and a fresh layout too, of course. 😅 (Read all about the chapter and verse of my new 2022 bujo next week!)

It's been a while, and I've finally recovered from the drenched that my older bujo had gone through (short story time at the end of the article). So thank you heaps to the Bapster for getting me a new bullet journal to restart and make me feel better.

May I please premise that no rulers were used in this layout (a first, yay!) and this month's color palette is very warm, featuring Crayola SuperTips Washable Markers⏤almost exclusively⏤in Olive, Sun Yellow, Purple, Gray, and Light Peach.

Let's go. ♥︎

QUOTE PAGE

"Be loud about the things that are important to you." – Karen Walrond

Initially I just found this quote charming, but little by little, it dawned to me just how timely this is to come around my radar since it’s finally election season in the Philippines. And in the spirit of being proud and loud, I agree that the best man for the job is a woman.

That said, the layout is rather feminine, with an array of different botanicals across the page with the quote plastered in the center. This one is inspired by one of Leela’s layouts (which layout escapes me, sorry).

COVER PAGE

The cover page consist of a illustrated floral polaroid photo taped into the page; it's writing is a salute to the incoming month.

Below that is a calendar and a little daisy trio of sorts.

EXPANDED CALENDAR

There isn't much new in this section of our May bujo setup. The layout is the same I had in March and in April, and it's still the same now. The design is also very reminiscent of the quote and cover pages, romantic botanical doodles and all.

HABIT + SLEEP TRACKER

Polaroids, more polaroids! And in this spread, I used the part where photos show up as the grid to track my progress in creating habits I want to be part of my entirety.

For the colors here, I matched the SuperTips with DS retractable highlighters (review coming up soon, I promise!). So mostly the ones that are in lighter hues are the highlighters, and the ones darker are the SuperTips. :)

To maximize the spread, I added a sleep tracker on the bottom of the page. It looks blank now, but I plan to add colors on it as I fill it up, so hopefully that would work by the time it gets rather full.

CURRENT FAVORITES

This will sound off, but I'm super proud of this page. 🥺 At first I was conflicted whether or not the colors would mesh well, but I also was firm that I would stick with my color palette and the five markers I keep nearby.

WEEKLIES COVER PAGE

So I doodled a grid board because I often see this on Pinterest. I added memos, a polaroid photo, and a plant.

Here are what the memo:
  • The one in grass green says, "Make happiness a priority and be gentle to yourself in the process."
  • In the violet one, Make happiness a priority and be gentle to yourself in the process."

WEEKLIES SPREADS

This is not a new layout to begin with. It does resemble my January and March layouts, if I may say so myself, just the colors are different.

I'm sharing here all the five weekly spreads, but really just the plastered element changes and the order of colors. 😅

MONTHLY ROUNDUP

I'm still contemplating what I'll fill this up with since I already have the Current Favorites page. The reason I created this one was so that my May setup does not end on a back page.

This would probably be a collection of quotes and verses I've fallen in love with this month. I don't know yet, I don't know. :]

 ~

Overall, I'm really happy with how my May layout came about. I think that it has this organic feel of handmade, especially that I never used any ruler for any of the linings. I'm also a fan of the color palette, and how I think I've somehow pulled off the combo, ha!

I also would say that this is a spectacular venue for me to bounce back from the crippling heartbreak I felt when I took out my Kwaderno bullet journal and saw the drenched pages from the rain that decided to pour its heart out when I was on my way to the office.

Anyhoo, please stay tuned for upcoming posts. We have inks and paper reviews lined up; not yet on local artists, so please comment anyone you want me to feature here.

Until the next one! Take care. ♡
