Local Artist Spotlight: Velbe (Oopsie Bag!)

A happy package arrived in the mail today, and in a word: aaaaaaahhhhhh! 💖

This is going to sound ironic because I only got the oopsie bag, but I am totally head over heels with Velbe's art style. And by the by, if you allow me to explain, I could only get the oopsie bag at the time because I only had enough money left for it from my blog budget and I really, really want to get my hands on her art as soon as possible. 😅

What are oopsie bags, you may ask. 

Well, my friends, oopsie bags are the overruns of the ephemera world. They are grab bags of minimally flawed art pieces you can get from artists—flaws such as issues on the color, printed paper, or the cut, but all are still in very good shape nonetheless. They can even be old designs they don't plan on reproducing anymore.

In a nutshell, oopsie bags contain the pieces that simply didn't make the final cut.

You can ask your favorite local artists if they have an oopsie bag on sale, and you might just end up getting a "vintage" design you've never had the chance to get before. 😊

Velbe has been very generous, if I may say so myself. I ordered an oopsie grab bag and still got freebies. The mail came in two brown square envelopes, one inside the other.

The inner envelope, secured by a wax stamp–designed sticker, held all the goodies that I paid for, while the outer envelope, secured by what I think is Velbe's icon and personalized with my name on the other side, held a handwritten receipt, the freebies, and a short note from the artist. 

In a single order, I got the following: 

  • 12 calendar sticker sheets
  • 8 calendar sheets in thick paper
  • 5 sticker sheets
  • 2 mini sticker sheets
  • 7 small die-cut stickers
  • 2 mini sticker sheets (free)
  • 2 stickers from other artists (free) 💖


There's a disclaimer on Velbe's shop that says the goodies in the oopsie bag come in very randomly, so duplicates can be expected. That's why I'm so happy mine was as varied as possible. Yay! 🥰

However, just to also set your expectations, I did notice that the colors on the print aren't vibrant and there are minimal cut flaws on sticker sheets. But honestly, if these are the B-grades, how much prettier would the premium ones be! 💗So I promise to do a mini haul, non-oopsie bag anymore, next time and share the lovely loot again.
